J. Teddy Johnson is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, musician, recording artist, composer, choral director, and music producer. Born in Camden, New Jersey, J. Teddy Johnson began singing publicly at age 8, playing piano at age 11, writing songs at age 13, and directing choirs at age 14, performing professionally at age 15 and recording at age 16. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Music from the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, he toured extensively on three continents, performing an eclectic repertoire ranging from classical and country music to jazz and gospel, as well as everything in between.
As a veteran educator, Mr. Johnson has taught a variety of creative arts classes including General Music, Choral Music, Marching Band, String Orchestra, Piano, Guitar, Musical Theatre, Drama, and Creative Writing, at every grade level in the Camden City and Clark County Public School Districts. He has also provided leadership to his colleagues while serving as Chairperson for the Creative Arts Department. In 1998, J. Teddy Johnson and the Camden Community Singers recorded their debut CD entitled “The Answer” with Mr. Phil Hurtt and Sweet Spirit Records.
He has since recorded numerous CDs and appeared on a variety of recordings, several of which may be found on iTunes. J. Teddy Johnson has appeared with and served alongside some of the most celebrated names in gospel and secular music such as Bishop T.D. Jakes, Yolanda Adams, Tye Tribbett, Shirley Caesar, CeCE Winans & the Winans family, the Hawkins family, Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, Nona Hendryx, Peabo Bryson, Roberta Flack, Melissa Manchester and Jeffery Osborne, to name a few. He was a two-time winner at the Apollo Theater and has had the distinction of performing at the Majestic Theater on Broadway, as well as such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Vatican in Rome, Italy.
Pastor Teddy, as he is affectionately known, is a licensed minister of the gospel, currently serving as the Lead Pastor of Worship Arts at Hope Church in Las Vegas. He is also the founder of a multi-faceted music enterprise -
J TEDDY MUSIC INCORPORATED, a Las Vegas-based corporation. He is married to Pamela Camille, and has three beautiful children: daughters - J’Nissi ReJoice and Judaea Shaddai, and son - Jireh Zamar.
