The theme for six of the messages is Captured by Grace, based on John Newton’s song; Amazing Grace.

In these messages we will take lines from Newton’s hymn, and along with historical illustrations and scriptural exposition, we will see truths that cause us to bow down at the surpassing grace of God. After all, “Twas grace that brought us safe thus far; and grace will lead us home”.

6. The Concerned Plea of Grace (Missionary Message)

John Newton was converted by it, compelled by it, and captured by it. His testimony was, “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound; that saved a wretch like me.” It is the thread that links us to the plan and purpose of God. Without it we are nothing, and have nothing. By it,  we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. No wonder it is called amazing grace!

Dr. Michael Cloer has been preaching the gospel for 37 years. In that time he has pastored churches in Arkansas, New York and South Carolina. Since 2000, he has been senior pastor of Englewood Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The church has more than  doubled in that time and has become known for evangelism and missions. He has a radio and television ministry and a large international audience on their live webcast each week.

Coming from a Christian home, Pastor Michael was a rebellious prodigal before coming to Christ as a young man. He and his wife Tebra have three children, all married, and one grandson. He enjoys hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
